Nowadays, Solar occupies the mind of every person but has not reached to doors of the common people.

Indian Government Target for Solar Power

Recently Indian Government has dropped its target from 500 GW of Renewable Energy to 50% power from non-fossil fuels by 2030. India has a total 404 GW installed capacity, out of which coal-based capacity is 204 GW (50%), Renewable Energy 114 GW (28%), Hydro 47 GW (12%), Nuclear Generation is 7 GW, Gas based is 27 Gelignite and Diesel based is 8 GW generation.

The Indian Government has a target of 480 GW of Renewable Energy by 2030. Of which 280 GW is from Solar Power and 140 GW is from Wind power. 

Private Solar Firms

There is massive scope for private players in solar power. Solar power in the coming days will generate demands for manufacturing, supply, installation, and solar services. The solar sector is rapidly increasing day by day. But it is mainly growing in the industrial sector only. 

A country like India, with a population of almost 130 Cr, needs a more sophisticated approach toward renewable especially solar power. Solar for residence is still not made its proper presence. The residence solar users are waiting for Government subsidies and especially hoping Government will do it. 

Residential Services by Solar Firms

But the procedure and norms for any private solar firms to enter the Government system are still very complicated. Any solar firm working independently cannot provide the services to residents due to DISCOMS, State Electricity Authorities complicated module. Still, there is a lot more to be done by the Government so that solar with subsidies can be availed by residents from any supplier in the market.

Common people are only concerned about the cost of solar Installations; they are merely thinking of Green Energy. Rooftop solar is the future we know, but this future needs the involvement of the common people. 

Government Machinery alone cannot regulate this process. It needs private players to be partners. I feel a simpler and easy approach is required for achieving the targets. Only putting big Solar Power Plants cannot be the sole solution. Every household should have Rooftop Solar system.

The residential and commercial Rooftop solar system has a very large scope. I am an owner of an Independent Solar System Supply firm, and I feel there is still a lot that needs to be done to make people's solar power literate.

Common people who are paying max. Rs. 1000/- for monthly electricity bills will not be easily ready to put a rooftop solar system. Getting Government subsidies and installation is time-consuming for common people. 

Also, people like us who are ready to supply the system within a week will ask for a subsidy. Again, getting empaneled into the DISCOMS, State Electricity Boards is a lengthy procedure. Due to this, private players are more concerned about commercially usable solar systems.

We need a Special purpose vehicle system where the public and solar suppliers can easily coordinate for installation. I feel that in the coming days the Government will address this issue. This will lead India towards zero carbon emissions country like Bhutan.

Solar for common people with ease of deciding the Solar System suppliers, Installing, determining the quality, the cost will increase the investments in Solar Power area in days to come.
