The strategic challenges to address NVH issues in EVs are more. It is because the masking effect of ICE noise is absent in EV. The Buzz Squeak and Rattle issues and dealing with the road noise are becoming a challenge in an EV.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Acoustic experts faced roadblocks in dealing with the various lightweight powertrain and their variety of applications. During vehicle development and better measurement analysis, front-loading is the key to meet the vehicle development timeline for NVH refinement.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">An ICE has mechanical and combustion noise of low-frequency firing orders. In contrast, electric vehicles' electric drive assembly noise is mainly the high-frequency whining noise generated by electromagnetic forces from electric motor and transmission, which is much annoying. The powertrain noise is reduced by almost a quarter in EV compared to ICE, whereas the road and wind noise increased in an EV, leading to novel challenges in dealing with overall in-cab noise.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">The customer expectation of a quieter vehicle is high in an EV compared to ICE. Moreover, we do not have much experience to deal with NVH aspects in an EV. The industry is learning through various types of EVs, namely modified, adopted, cradle, saddle, and moulding according to the expectations of the customer in various emerging markets. The next few years will create new opportunities for automotive NVH engineer, which will open up additional thoughts and insights on NVH refinement.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p>
