Insects: A Nightmare Of Every Farmer

__

Since the beginnings of agriculture, farmers have had to compete with harmful organisms – Insects. The damage caused by insects, is one of the primary factors for reduced crop production. They are responsible for two major kinds of damage to growing crops. The first is direct injury to plants caused by insects eating leaves and burrowing holes in stems, fruit, and/or roots. The second is indirect damage, where the insects themselves do little or no harm but transmit the bacterial, viral, or fungal infection to a crop.

Insects reduce the quality of crops. They eat up the leaves of crops, thereby reducing the photosynthetic activity of the plant. They cause injury which may predispose crops to diseases attack. Every year 20%-30% of crops are destroyed due to diverse types of insect attacks. Our farmers have been managing agricultural insects for thousands of years. These insects include Aphid, mites, leaf miner, cutworm, caterpillars, thrips, jassids, whiteflies, leaf folder, and grey weevil. Aphids are one of the main culprits in this regard, carrying diseases from plant to plant often uncontrollably as numbers multiply. In this blog, we get information about leaf-damaging insects.

Aphids seem to find their way into most of the crops. They are small, soft-bodied insects that feed by sucking the nutrient-rich liquids out of plants. In large numbers, they can weaken plants significantly, harming flowers and fruit. Aphids multiply quickly, so it is important to get them under control before reproduction starts. Many generations can occur in one season. HPM’s Ashirwaad SC, Black Apollo, Baadshah, Capture, Devsena, Hindustan Vardan, and Ashrwaad GR are the perfect solutions for the treatment of Aphid.

Thrips are tiny insects about as fat as a sewing needle that dines on many plants worldwide. Also known as Thysanoptera or thunder flies, thrips are sucking insects that can cause some damage to plants. However, their damage can be much worse when they transmit viruses to plants. HPM’s Typhon, Black Apollo, Apollo, bajirao, and Cyperhit 25 are the best products for thrips.

Beetles are generally identified by their hardened, shell-like bodies which appear to have a line running down their backs. They come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. Adult beetles feed on leaves or tree trunks and the grubs feed on roots and lead to the wilting and death of plants. Black Apollo, Dhadak, Vadh, and Don 3G is the prudent answer for Beetle management.

Moth larvae contaminate food by producing large amounts of strong webbing and frass. This can bind food together and make foods unsuitable for sale or consumption. Frass from the moth can also attract other stored food pests and increase the damage and contamination of the product. Antkaal, Black Apollo, Superzite, and Wardon are the perfect solution for the treatment of Moth larvae.

Gall midge forms a tubular gall at the base of tillers, causing elongation of leaf sheaths called onion leaf or silver shoot. During the dry season, the insect remains dormant in the pupal stage. They become active again when the buds start growing after the rains. HPM’s Ashirwaad SC, Baadshah, Hindustan Vadan, Hitatox 10 G, and Ashrwaad GR are the perfect solutions for the treatment of Gall Midge.

Many species of leafhoppers exist in crops throughout India. Both adults and nymphs feed by puncturing the undersides of leaves and sucking out plant juices. Their toxic saliva causes spotting (white specks), yellowing, leaf curling, stunting, and distortion of plants. They are also responsible for transmitting the organisms causing virus diseases in plants.
